I remember a person in a 12-step program complaining that she had been asking God to take away her fear of trying to roller-skate and that it hadn't happened. Someone suggested that she ought to ask that with skates on, out by the Charles River -- rather than in her apartment.susankayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15513759507628166408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6786565.post-33527877704560074262009-01-19T14:15:00.000-05:002009-01-19T14:15:00.000-05:00Ah, I disagree that Tobias' words speak of God hav...Ah, I disagree that Tobias' words speak of God having no responsibility for the world he created. He does say that we share in that responsibility, and the faithful feel it's best done with God's help. Lord, hear our prayer...show me the right path, help me distinguish my will from yours; help me do this with faith and love.

But of course, sometimes "it is what it is, it was what it was" is all we can muster in some circumstances. It is not my place to see and know all, though some might think it is my goal.Lynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09748809418423591030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6786565.post-62342850006401023892009-01-17T16:29:00.000-05:002009-01-17T16:29:00.000-05:00It also robs God of responsibility for the world t...It also robs God of responsibility for the world that God created.Locust-Eaterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10378049597393803141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6786565.post-85755151927094986262009-01-17T15:42:00.000-05:002009-01-17T15:42:00.000-05:00Amen to the Thought For the Day.Amen to the Thought For the Day.June Butlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01723016934182800437noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6786565.post-71058336927614448662009-01-17T11:38:00.000-05:002009-01-17T11:38:00.000-05:00And among our Muslim brothers, it goes "Masha'alla...And among our Muslim brothers, it goes "Masha'allah" -- "It's the will of God" -- often said with a shrug of the shoulders after a disappointment or failure.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6786565.post-76780221959567847182009-01-17T11:33:00.000-05:002009-01-17T11:33:00.000-05:00It also strikes me, as an additional thought, to b...It also strikes me, as an additional thought, to be not unlike an abusive relationship, in which a dependent person "explains" their suffering.
