Introducing

This is Sir Bootz, a shelter cat from Pets Alive Westchester, added to the rectory population yesterday. He is a fine clerical fellow, right at home on my keyboard, in fact blocking the screen at this very moment. He has a very sweet disposition, and is fascinated by my typing on the keyboard... Perhaps I can put him to work?

Aw, when I saw you had post called "Introducing", I *hoped* it was a kitty! (Since you lost your Victoria Augusta. Catnip Heaven's gain.)

Sir Bootz is Teh Kewtz! :-)

Thanks, all. We are truly blessed. The interesting thing is both our cats in the past have been strays who came to us. This time around, after Augusta's death, we decided on going to one of the shelters in the region. One, Pets Alive Westchester, has a website where you can see the pets available for adoption. When I saw the pic of Sir Bootz, standing tall and proud, I thought he might be the one. When we went to the shelter, as we browsed past the holding pens, in the first were mostly older cats, more or less putting up with each other. Then we came to the "young" department. As we approached the window. Sir Bootz saw us and came marching right up to the grate, and placed his paw up on it -- and looked right into my eyes. We asked if it was he, and yes, it was. There was another cat who was a possible choice, a very sweet reddish-beige cat, Topaz. The shelter worker asked if we wanted to go in, and we said yes. Sir Bootz again came right up to us and began standing tall, leaning against us. Interestingly, Topaz was nowhere to be seen. That settled it, the adoption papers were filled out, and home he came. He is fitting in very nicely, very affectionate, and we think he will enjoy rectory living!

My Katzie is a tuxedo cat, too, and he's just the most affectionate, sweet-tempered fella ever. I wonder if it's a tux cat thing.

Thanks, Mark. This is my first cat in a tux, so I've nothing to go on. My tabby and my seal-point were both loving and affectionate, too. May be more the sort of cat I'm drawn to!

I've only known one tux cat, Jeeves, and he still is one of the most affectionate cats.

Your Sir Bootz is clearly not only affectionate but in choosing you has already shown impeccable taste.
I wish you many happy years together.

Thanks, Erika. Sir Bootz is extremely affectionate. Last night curled up on my lap through the whole first episode of "Painted Lady" with Helen Mirren.

A good choice on both sides of the equation...
