Kovenaunty

with apologies to Lewis Carroll.  I mean, serious apologies...

'Twas britigg, and the slithy coves
Did gyre and wimple in the nave;
All mimsy were the piscophobes
As the Pre-Lates misbehave.

"Beware the Kovenaunt, my son,
The jaws that bite, the clause that catch!
Beware the Gafcon bird, and shun
The frumious Bristol-patch!"

He took his corporal word in hand:
Long time the mishmatched thunk he thought --
So rested he by the Pry-Mate tree,
And looked at what he'd brought.

And as in thoughtish uff he stood,
The Kovenaunt, with thighs of brass,
Came treeling from the underwood,
And mumbled from its ass.

One, two! Three, four! And as before
His corporal word went click and clack!
He left its head, assumed quite dead,
And dragged its brass thighs back.

"And hast thou brained the Kovenaunt?
Come to my arms, my vortuous son!
O dorous day! Catchoo! Cachet!
Thank goodness that is done."

'Twas britigg, and the slithy coves
Did gyre and wimple in the nave;
All mimsy were the piscophobes
As the Pre-Lates misbehave.

Thanks, Bosco. I've heard from Dr. H. Dumpty, who plans to do a commentary on the poem in the near future... ;-)

That. Was. Brilliant.

And I mean *brilliant.*

Is it ironic that Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) was an Anglican deacon...?

My experience is that deacons often talk better sense than bishops. OH! Did I say that out loud?

Excellent Tobias... I'm not sure that you're allowed a sense of humour under the covenant so better get it all out now.

Thank you, Theme. A sense of humour is the only thing keeping me going these days... along with faith and a realization that whatever happens, all will, as Julian said, be well.

Meanwhile, I've heard that H.Dumpty, PhD is working on a commentary...

Brilliant! Tobias, Since I know H. Dumpty, PhD, I'll put in a good word for you.

Ta, Mimi! A good word never hurts...
